It's official...school is out!!

Kassie finished school two days ago. Since then she's been partying it up and making emergency trips to the doctor: first for an unexplained bump on the head which pained her mightily, then for a buzzing in her ears which turned out to be an inner ear infection. I told the doctor yesterday we'd have to be on death's door to return today (however, she may have left behind her cap, necessitating a repeat visit sometime soon).

She has a few day camps set up for July-August but otherwise we intend to try to fit into my schedule time to hang out, swim, go for walks to the park, meet Daddy downtown either after work or for lunch, and amble down to the friendly neighbourhood Dairy Queen for ice cream. In about a week we're making a trek by train to London, Buffalo, Toronto and Kingston. She's psyched! (Me too.)

I've finished half of my current manuscript. It may be some time before I return to it, as we're expecting a busy summer. If our luck holds out—already the British pound has dropped in value once again, so we can't be sure—we may actually move into a new home before the end of August when school resumes once again.

Good luck on selling your house in Nantwich. How long have you had it on the market, Jeanne?

Sounds like you and DD will be having a lovely summer together. As you probably know, it's been very hot here recently and the first day of the good weather happened while my daughter and I were having a few bonding days in Blackpool. My older daughter's coming over in July so we're hoping to have a few days in London (if we can get booked into a hotel that doesn't have the kind of rates that necessitate taken out a mortgage to pay for a room). We'll pop in to see my mum (baking a birthday cake and taking it down with us) and then do some touristy stuff.

The younger one will be spending a couple of weeks visiting her sister in Norway, a week in Weymouth and a week camping in Amsterdam during the summer holiday and considering she has a boyfriend to spend time with, too, I doubt I'll see a whole lot of her. It's the age. Give her another couple of years and that'll change again.

Don't you just love being a mum? I wouldn't swap it for the world!

Being a mom/mum is the best! It sounds like you have an action-packed summer ahead as well. How ever will we get our writing in...although you've really been clocking those words lately, Sharon. Good for you!

As for the house, I feel a post coming on...stay tuned.
