Fireworks

Last night our hosts here in Buffalo, New York took us to see July 4th fireworks, marking my first time not only to watch fireworks in the United States but also to celebrate Independence Day. It was great fun and some consolation for the bad weather we experienced in SW Ontario which prevented us from taking in the Canada Day celebrations. As this was our first Canada Day spent "at home" in five years, Kassie was disappointed, giving me cause to recount where in the past few years she has been lucky enough to gaze upon fireworks:
  • on the Brittany coast on Bastille Day, 14 July 2005, to classical music
  • Guy Fawkes Day (Bonfire Night) in the the West Midlands of England, on and around 5 November 2002-2004
  • St. Stephen's Day along the banks of the Danube, Budapest, Hungary, 20 August 2003, to classical music.
Not too shabby. However, it would have been nice if the wind and rain had cooperated and granted us our first genuine Canada Day celebration in half a decade. Better luck next year!
