Mirrors and magic erasers
After yet another weekend spent tidying up, I was tempted to rave about two minor domestic inventions that have changed my life: Swiffer sheets and the magic eraser. (I probably should be waxing euphoric over the automatic washer/dryer, as I not-so-fondly still recall Monday mornings spent sweating over a wringer washer back on the farm - and Tuesdays spent wielding the iron over flattened clothing).
Fortunately, I managed to squeeze in some reading time too. At the local library while picking up the first installment of the Sandman series, I happened upon Neil Gaiman's short story, MirrorMask. Originally written as a screenplay, then made into a movie, then novelized from the movie into a short story, it's a wonder the tale of Helena's voyage to rescue her mother, and atone for her own guilt, makes any sense at all. The illustrations, images from the movie, and the quirky typesetting did the trick for me.
Apparently the 2005 film wasn't as well received as Stardust; however, I got a kick out of this clip. I'm a sucker for Gaiman and Evanescence both.
